DJ KOOL FLASH is turning History into Herstory in the Hip-Hop and DJ world. Born in Brooklyn, NY she is an 11 Year Old Professional DJ and Entrepreneur. She's been DJing for 4 years and has taken the Hip-Hop World and DJ World by storm! In a grown male-dominated business and what seems like a flood of young DJ's popping up on the scene, DJ Kool Flash has managed to separate herself from the rest of the pact.
April 3, 2018, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City, 11 yr. old DJ Kool Flash was Crowned DMC 2018 NYC Champion! In doing so, she becomes The First Black Female DMC USA Regional Champion, The Youngest Female DMC USA Regional Champion, and the 2nd Female Regional Champion Ever in the History of the DMC USA! The DMC's are now in their 33rd Year and host the World's Biggest and #1 DJ Competitions. 22 DJ's battled from around the nation, 19 of which were grown men and seasoned vets. What adds to this incredible accomplishment is the fact that it was only her 3rd battle.
She first began turning History into Herstory in another Grown Up arena, Mixtapes. She made her presence felt by releasing, "1st Ladies Mixtape" Hosted by Statik Selektah(RocNation) at the tender age of 8. It was followed up with the release of, "Underground Playground Mixtape" the following year Hosted by M-1 of Dead Prez. They were both one of the Top Mixtapes of the Month when released on DatPiff and til' this day still retain their respective 4-Star and 5-Star Rating by the People.
Her accomplishments are well noted by the press beginning at the age of 9 when her release of "Underground Playground" received global attention and praise from OkayPlayer, The Source, HipHopDX, Mouv(France), Kingsize(Sweden) just to name a few. More recent press from BlameEbro, RapFest, and 4 Global Spin articles have solidified her as an Artist of Recognition. Her DMC Victory in April can be found in DJ Times, The Source and Global Spin.
