 George Akram

" I've been waiting a long time for an opportunity like this. I think the learning and teaching process will be mutual without a doubt."

George Akram as the son of highly recognized dancers, was surrounded by show biz from an early age. His first job at the age of 6 was as a host for a kids' TV show called “Video Time” where he joined a group of young performers conducted by the very well known venezuelan choreographer Anita Vivas called “Acción Visual” (Visual Action); the group achieved notoriety, which lead to his appearance in significant national events, sports opening ceremonies and many commercials.
At age 17, George successfully hosted one of South America’s biggest live summer shows “Rugemanía”; where he had the opportunity to show his versatility as a host, actor, dancer and singer five times a week.

After finishing his first musical as a lead called “ Celebremos La Vida”, Akram decided to invest time honing his skills attending classes and workshops in Miami, Los Angeles and New York, where he now resides.

In his first four years in Florida, George had the tremendous honor to be part of several major events including the Latin Grammys, Latin Billboards, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Selena Vive, Viña del Mar in Chile, Premio Lo Nuestro, Premios Juventud, Reggaeton Festival at Madison Square Garden, among others sharing stage with esteemed artists like Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz, Alejandro Sanz, David Bisbal, Shakira, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Alek Syntek, and many more.

However, George’s acting career started to take off in 2005 once he made his movie debut in the film “Stuck On You” by The Farrelly Brothers; followed by his second soap opera “Las Dos Caras De Ana” and became a supporting role in the smash hit “Visa Para un Sueño, The Musical”. Currently he can be seen in the upcoming film "Sins Of Our Youth" , "KM72" and the comdey "My Friend Vijay"

However in 2008, by the hand of legend Arthur Laurents, was given the opportunity to play the role of Bernardo, leader of the Sharks, in the Broadway Revival of WEST SIDE STORY at the Palace Theater.
Worth mentioning, George completed the longest running Broadway production of WSS in January 2011, with a Grammy Award for “Best Musical Show Album” and a Tony Award nomination for Best Revival.

The Other Side....

Performing, however, is not the only gift George possesses. A skilled painter, his work was exhibited in Las Vegas, NV at The Zumanity Theater by an invitation from Cirque Du Soleil in 2006. He is fluent in four languages (including American Sign Language), and is a gifted athlete as well.
